Leadplant - Amorpha canescens Seed Pack

Leadplant (Amorpha canescens) exhibits a shrubby growth form and can attain a height of up to 3 feet. This species is indigenous to the central regions of Canada and the United States, thriving in hardiness zones 3 through 8. It demonstrates adaptability to various soil types and prefers full sunlight for optimal growth. Its deep root system enhances its resilience to drought and enables it to withstand fire events. As a member of the legume family, Leadplant possesses the ability to fix nitrogen, thereby enriching the soil for surrounding flora. It is important to note that this long-lived perennial may require as much as four years to achieve maturity and produce flowers.

Growing Instructions 

Cold, moist stratification required. Mix seeds with moist substrate (vermiculite, perlite or moss) and place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 6-8 weeks. Sow seed at 1/8 inch depth. Do not let seedling dry out while it is establishing.

OR

Sow directly outdoors in late fall to overwinter.
