Cylindra Beets are a smooth dark red are 16cm (6 1/2") long cylindrical beets. They are sweet tasting roots are excellent keepers and are perfect for slicing. Cylindra cooks well when they are young but retains the flavours when larger.

Detroit Dark Red Beets are of the heritage variety. They are dark red, globe shaped roots that have a smooth crown and a small taproot. They are excellent for tables, canning, freezing, and greens. These are the most popular beet in the family.

Sowing: Cylindra - Plant in early spring or later in the summer for fall crops. Rich moist sandy loam is best. When tops are 15cm (6") tall, pull some for greens and continue until roots are about 7cm (3") apart. Plant 1cm (1/2") deep and 2.5cm (1") apart.
